I know the place well. My dad built the Dixon Primary glider. My dad , Allen Smith, and his friend the pilot, Paul Comeau and his wife built it. (Paul and his wife , Pearl did the canvas, and she paintd snoopy, free hand_ Took my dad and he , Paul, and Pearl his wife took eleven years to build it. Have great memories of pulling it with a car on a grass strip next to a runway in its home in Gardner MA. They sold it to Palen in '73 , as we all were putting it back together after bringing it there,,,,, Palen was there, and loved it. He was a great guy. i do have some film of it flying, and me in some shots as i was around 4 , lol, i was 9 when they sold it. (I'm 61 )

I can’t hear a thing

My father was in USMC Vietnam 2 tours between 1964-1971 and received 2 Purple Hearts. He was exposed to agent orange during that time frame in the battlefield. He ended up with lung cancer which he had surgery to remove part of the right lung in 2002 but the bigger issue was nerve damage in his hands and feet in his 30s and it slowly progressed to his whole spine is degenerative and had multiple surgeries to repair it but now he’s lost the ability to walk now for the past 18 months. He’s currently in ICU because he has really bad bed sores across his whole rear end because he can’t sit up in a wheelchair anymore. He has his mental occupancy but trapped in his body. It’s painful to watch him being bed ridden like this. It’s hard. My brother is the first born and he has multiple mental issues and struggles with scoliosis too. I have degenerative tendons especially in both my knees and I am slowly losing my ability to climb stairs at this point and can’t exercise properly like I use to.

I've only known Rhinebeck without Cole Palen. He really enjoyed hamming it up as the Black Baron for the youngsters. I'm glad I got to see that.

Vietnam 65-66 All my pals are dead. My beautiful Daughter died from MS. They poisoned us. I have a hard time walking, the VA canceled my appointment with neurologist. U.S. Soldiers are throw away people. Don't join.

i think the military DOES thing about the long term affects of the chemical, as i am sure the makers (dow chemical), informed them. they just didn't give a f**k.

Back around 1970, then independent WOR TV channel 9 in NYC did a rare, original documentary about WOR Radio 710 AM's popular longtime helicopter traffic reporter, the late "Fearless" Fred Feldman. It's a great documentary about how he did the job, communicating with the station in one ear while talking with the JFK, LGA and Newark towers as he flew through their zones. The documentary also included a whimsical "fantasy" segment filmed at Old Rhinebeck where Feldman, flying his classic, bubble-canopy pontooned Bell 47 "Helicopter 710," played the role of "Snoopy" "dogfighting" Cole Palen as "The Red Baron" in the Fokker Dr-I triplane to the popular '60's "Royal Guardsman" tune Snoopy vs the Red Baron. I've never been able to find any sign that the documentary survived, but I hope someone one day will preserve it and digitize it.

Wonderful! We crossed paths with Cole Palen in the mid-60s because his truck broke down in Queens while he was moving a car transporter full of early biplane hulks to Rhinebeck. Palen parked the trailer in a lot next our school while he worked on repairs. Of course, kids from the school were all over the planes for a week. Our family went up to see the airshow back around 1970, but we inadvertently went on the "off" weekend". But like so many others here mention, as we wandered around looking at the planes we came across Cole laboring away on the Dr-1 and had a friendly conversation with him. He joked that it took about a week's worth of work for every hour in the air.

It was a terrible war, and this was the worst part of it.

I tell people about this crime, sometimes, it's buried nobody's even heard of it. Nobody seems to care much, or be to bothered about it. It's so sad what all these people are going through. Monsanto have many, many more such horror stories to Thier name.

The TV movie "Unnatural Causes" starring John Ritter and Alfre Woodard...Very important film about the Vietnam War...Agent Orange....uncovered by a courageous woman in the Chicago VA. Watch for the great short vignette acted by Graham Greene, who was the medicine man in Dances With Wolves. I own this DVD bought from Amazon. Bill Kurtis, news anchor in Chicago, made an important documentary about Agent Orange.

And they expect us to trust them when they say their MRNA co vid vaccine is safe and effective.

Nothing was done. My daughter was born with birth defects, I was having seizures, blackouts, boils. The VA said I hadn't been exposed. They Lied. Recently I discovered we were storing it in the warehouse where I and my squad worked. For 18 fucking months.

There is no way anyone can prove liver cancer is caused by a single entity any more than they can prove lung cancer was caused by smoking but it sure is assumed.

Agent orange killed my dad and left my younger brothers with major medical problems, including a rare blood cancer. I remember when my dad filed a claim before he died, but was told his claim wasn't timely. After he died, we had to fight for a year just to get a headstone over him. The military used him up and then discarded him, leaving my teenage brother without his dad. He was in the First Infantry Division. He died from prostrate cancer.
